Counselor Training Program
COUNSELOR TRAINING PROGRAM
Formerly known as the Leaders-In-Training (LIT) program, the Counselor Training Program provides Counselors-In-Training with a summer filled with new learning and understanding for each other and diabetes management. Many Camp Joslin and Clara Barton Camp staff members describe their time at this program as "the best summer" of their lives.
Beginning in the summer of 2012, we moved back to a classic, two-year training model to provide teens with a richer, well-rounded experience. Upon successful completion of the first-year CIT program, teens may apply as a second-year CIT, which is a paid position, the following summer. This model not only helps teens grow as young professionals, but also helps teens make an incredible difference in the lives of the girls and boys that they work with. While males are housed at Camp Joslin and females at Clara Barton Camp, those accepted into the program will learn counseling skills as they relate to both of the residential camps, Barton Day Camp, and the community. The program provides the skills needed to be great counselors!
